Frequently asked questions
Does anything get uploaded to the cloud?
Everything stays on your own computer. Your trades, positions, NAV history, cash transactions and settings are saved only on your machine — never on our servers and never in the cloud.
Is my IBKR Flex Token safe?
Yes. Your Flex Token and Query ID are stored on your own computer, encrypted by your operating system. They're never written in plaintext and never uploaded anywhere. When you sync, your computer talks directly to IBKR's official Flex Web Service over HTTPS.
Do you support brokers other than IBKR?
No. Helmfolio is engineered exclusively for Interactive Brokers using their Flex Query system. We'd rather do one broker exceptionally well than many superficially.
How much history can I analyze?
Helmfolio is built around IBKR's 365-day Flex window and merges every sync into a growing local history — duplicate trades are skipped automatically — so your record keeps building over time on your own machine.
Can I use my license on more than one computer?
A single Pro license can be activated on 2 of your personal devices. Moving to a new machine? Deactivate the old device inside the app first to free a seat, then activate the new one.
How do I back up my data or move to a new computer?
Yes. In Settings you can export your entire dataset to a single JSON file — every trade, position, NAV snapshot and cash transaction — and import it back on any machine to pick up exactly where you left off. You can also open your local data folder straight from Settings to copy or archive it yourself. Because everything lives on your computer, your records are yours to back up and carry anywhere.
